The Shasta Blues Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of the American cultural art form known as "The Blues." The Shasta Blues Society jams at Lulu's every Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 10 o'clock. The public is always welcome and is family oriented. The jams give all ages an opportunity to meet, mix and jam with a variety of musicians. At all of the community fund-raisers over the  years, SBS has donated money to various North State philanthropic organizations such as  American Red Cross,  local Volunteer Fire Companies, Ronald McDonald House, the Martin Luther King Foundation, the Women's Refuge, the Fountain Fire victims and Toys for Tots.  SBS has conducted a "Golf and Jam" the proceeds of which  benefited the American Red Cross. The SBS supports "Blues in Schools" by sponsoring the  "Sacto" Mickey Traina / Tulla Bisnar - Bidasha Scholarship for graduating high school seniors.

Overall the Shasta Blues Society wants to see more activity in our community. With this years event, the Shasta Blues Society anticipates drawing a crowd of 2000 or more. Between local population and visitors from outside our area utilizing motels and campsites, the Annual Blues By The River Festivals will bring revenue to the Redding area that the entire community can benefit and share in. As a non-profit organization the Shasta Blues Society is interested in your taking part in this event. With your participation the Annual Blues by the River Festivals will continue to grow each year as a community event. Thank you for joining us and for your donation.
